You can add, modify or remove properties associated with each Jira user in the User property editor page provided in the Add-ons section. These properties can be used by the Set field value from User Property workflow post-function to set a field value from the user property of the current user. The value of the user property should be provided as a text value. To find out about the value type expected by this post-function for different field types, see Expected value for different field types.

Add a User property

To Add a user property, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
  2. Go to the Administration icon  and click on it.
  3. Locate Add-ons from the menu and click on it.
  4. Click on User properties editor.
  5. Search for the user you wish to add/edit properties of, in the Select a user search field.
  6. Enter the name of the user property in the Key field.
  7. Enter the value of the user property in the Value field.
  8. Click on Add to add the user property for the selected user.

You have successfully added the User entity property for the selected user.

Edit a User property

To edit a user property, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
  2. Go to the Administration icon  and click on it.
  3. Locate Add-ons from the menu and click on it.
  4. Click on User properties editor.
  5. Search for the user you wish to edit properties of, in the Select a user search field.
  6. To edit the Key of the user property, hover on the Key field, to find  icon. 
  7. Click on it and edit the Key. Click on Update.
  8. To edit the Value of the user property, hover on the Value field, to find  icon. 
  9. Click on it and edit the Value. Click on Update.

You have successfully edited the User entity property for the selected user.

Delete a User property

To delete a user property, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
  2. Go to the Administration icon  and click on it.
  3. Locate Add-ons from the menu and click on it.
  4. Click on User properties editor.
  5. Search for the user you wish to delete properties of, in the Select a user search field.
  6. Click on Delete for the user property you wish to delete.

You have successfully deleted the User entity property for the selected user.


Note that these properties are different from the User Properties that you can edit from the Jira's User Management section.
